World Mental Health Day 2020
At Elliot Mather, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and because of this, we strive to offer support to all of our staff, providing support to those who are struggling with their mental health.
To mark World Mental Health Day 2020, our staff have come to work wearing either green or yellow, raising money for the charity MIND. This year’s World Mental Health Day is one that is significant to many individuals globally. The strict lockdown measures – which were a consequence of COVID-19 – have meant that many people have felt isolated from their loved ones, subsequently having an impact on their mental health.
We are social beings who need human interaction, having that taken away is guaranteed to influence the way we feel. It is understandable that the ‘Groundhog Day’ effect experienced by many in recent months has led to people having a lack of motivation, and increased feelings of depression and anxiety. The lockdown measures have also seen a rise in alcoholism, with people viewing it as the only way to cope with their feelings of isolation from society.
During this time – and in the future – we must come together in solidarity, offering support and guidance to those around us. Small acts of kindness can go a long way, and regularly checking in with those closest to you can certainly make a difference.
