Elliot Mather LLP Announces Appointment of Four New Non-Designated Members

Full-service law firm Elliot Mather LLP is delighted to announce the appointment of four new Non-Designated Members (NDM) across various departments: Natalie Potter in the Child Care department, Filip Feret in the Wills and Probate department, Peter Kidd in the Dispute Resolution department, and Joni Johnson in the Residential Property department.

Natalie Potter heads up the Child Care team in Derby. With a decade of experience prior to her arrival, Natalie has significantly contributed to the growth and success of the Child Care department at the Derby office. Reflecting on her appointment, Natalie said, “With ten years of experience behind me I was given an opportunity to join Elliot Mather, I wasn’t looking for a move at the time but it was an opportunity to join a reputable Law Firm with a strong established Child Care Team and therefore an opportunity not to be missed. Now, 7 years on from that decision I am incredibly proud and honoured to be appointed as an LLP Member. I have been able to develop my expertise and work alongside a fantastic team of supportive individuals dedicated to providing expert advice. I now take on this next chapter with gratitude and commitment and look forward to continuing to develop the Child Care Team at our Derby office and contributing to Elliot Mather’s future growth.”

Filip Feret has been a dedicated member of the Wills and Probate department at Elliot Mather LLP and now heads up the department in Derby. With a strong background in private client work, Filip has consistently demonstrated his expertise in handling complex probate matters and providing comprehensive estate planning advice. His commitment to delivering high-quality legal services has earned him a reputation for excellence among clients and colleagues alike. Away from the office Filip enjoys spending time with his family and is a keen tennis player.

Peter Kidd has been a valuable asset to the Dispute Resolution department. His commitment to excellence and his ability to navigate intricate legal matters have earned him this well-deserved appointment. Peter shared his thoughts on the new role, stating, “Elliot Mather is a law firm I have known and admired for some years and the opportunity to be a part of its future and work with so many kind and skilled legal minds meant is a wonderful opportunity that I am looking forward to.”

Joni Johnson has rejoined Elliot Mather LLP as a Senior Conveyancing Executive in 2024 after gaining extensive experience elsewhere. With nearly 20 years in the conveyancing industry, Joni has a particular specialism in new builds, leasehold sales and purchases, and re-mortgages. She expressed her excitement about the appointment, saying, “I am absolutely thrilled to be appointed as a NDM with Elliot Mather, which has been an ambition of mine for some time. I am looking forward to being part of progressing what is already an amazing residential conveyancing team, helping us excel and stand out from the crowd when it comes to the client’s experience on their home buying and selling journeys.”

Julie Page, Managing Partner and LLP member of the firm, commented on the appointments: “Natalie, Filip, Peter and Joni have all excelled in their fields of expertise and I am delighted that their hard work and dedication has been recognised in this way. I personally look forward to working more closely with them as they become a more integral part of the future success of Elliot Mather LLP.”

Julie Page

LLP Member and Head of Department

Julie joined Elliot Mather as a Trainee Solicitor in 1992 having studied for a Law Degree at the University of East Anglia and completed her Legal Practice Course at Chester. Throughout her legal career she has worked almost exclusively within the Criminal Department at our offices in Mansfield, Matlock and now Chesterfield.

Julie has been a member of the Duty Solicitor Scheme for over 20 years and has represented hundreds of clients either detained at a police station or appearing in the Magistrates and Crown Courts across the East Midlands. She has advised and represented clients charged with everything from minor road traffic matters to extremely serious allegations including rape, drug supply and murder. Julie particularly enjoys representing young people who, for reasons often beyond their control, find themselves in the Criminal Justice System. It is here that her intervention can often have the greatest impact.

In 2017 Julie assumed the role of Managing Partner having been Deputy Managing Partner since 2013. Working closely with our Chief Operations Officer Alan Grant and our Deputy Managing Partner Natalia Delgado, she is responsible for setting the strategic aims of Elliot Mather LLP and helping to steer the Firm in the direction of those aims. This is an exciting and challenging role especially as Elliot Mather continues to grow and expand into new markets.

As part of her Management responsibilities Julie is the Firm’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice meaning she has responsibility for the firm's risk management systems and controls. She is also our Training Principle and as such, has responsibility for overseeing the development of our Trainee Solicitors. Elliot Mather has always recognised, not only the importance, but also the strong business case for recruiting, training and retaining the lawyers of the future.
