Katie is a Trainee Solicitor within the firm. She completed her law degree at Nottingham Trent University in 2012 and her Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in Leeds in July 2018. Katie joined Elliot Mather’s Criminal Department in September 2016 as a Crown Court Clerk and gained her Police Station Accreditation shortly after.
Katie is based at our Chesterfield office and her main duties include providing advice and assistance to anyone attending for interview under caution at various police stations both in Derbyshire and beyond. Katie is part of a team that provides Police Station cover not only during office hours, but evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Katie also prepares more serious matters for trial or sentence at the Crown Court. She has helped clients charged with extremely serious allegations including rape, kidnap and large scale drug possession and supply.
Katie is also usually the first port of call for any new Magistrates Court matters. She will see clients to take initial details and advise as to the availability of public funding to cover the cost of a matter. Katie’s particular strength is the ability to give concise and honest advice to clients who have found themselves in a difficult and often stressful situation.
