Sue joined Elliot Mather in 2010 and works from our Mansfield office as a Family Law Paralegal.
Sue specialises in Divorce, Finances and Private Law Children matters, including contact disputes and residence issues. Mediation is always offered as a way forward to amicable results, but if this is not possible, then applications to Court may be necessary. Sue prepares all the necessary paperwork and provides advice, assistance and representation at Court hearings.
Sue also deals with domestic abuse cases, including Legal Aid applications for obtaining Non-Molestation and/or Occupation Orders. These cases are always dealt with in a sensitive way with support and guidance given to the victims and if necessary, referrals to other agencies that may be of assistance are made.
Sue also deals with change of name Deeds for both adults and children.
Sue also has experience in supporting and advising families in a wide range of Public Law issues relating to children when Social Care are involved including: representing clients at Public Outline (PLO) Meetings. Legal Help is available for this type of matter.
Sue also advises clients during the initial stages of Social Care involvement i.e if the child has been placed on a Child In Need Plan or Child Protection Plan. Often this kind of advice and assistance can be obtained under the Legal Help Scheme, following the necessary assessment.
Sue advises and assists parents once Care Proceedings have been issued and often takes initial instructions and prepares statements in readiness for Court. Sue works alongside our specialist Care Team and assists in the day to day running of cases.
