Alicen Iredale is an Associate Solicitor and joined the Child Care Department in March 2011. She qualified as a Solicitor in Bury, North Manchester, in 2009 and has worked in all areas of family and child law. She is a Resolution Accredited Specialist in Public and Private Children Law.
Alicen represents parents, grandparents and other family members in disputes involving Social Services, including care proceedings, private applications for Child Arrangements Orders and Special Guardianship Orders, arrangements for contact with children in care and discharge/revocation of Care Orders and Placement Orders. She is a proactive and diligent legal representative, with experience in a wide range of care and contact issues relating to children, including initial stages of social care involvement such as initial assessments, viability assessments, child in need and child protection plans; PLO (Public Law Outline) meetings; and representation of extended family/family friends in relation to adoption, child arrangements and special guardianship.
Alicen acts in cases which include complex and sensitive issues such as sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical neglect / poor home conditions, alleged non accidental injury, relationship problems including domestic violence and coercion and control, drug and alcohol issues, mental health difficulties and learning difficulties or disabilities, including acting for clients who lack capacity, through the Official Solicitor or a litigation friend.
Alicen is based at the Chesterfield office and conducts cases in both Magistrates and County Courts in Derbyshire and the East Midlands. She is a member of Resolution (www.resolution.org.uk) which campaigns for the improvement of family law and the family justice system and is committed to developing and promoting the highest standards of practice.
