Top tips this Christmas Season from the Family Department of Elliot Mather

1.    Keep calm – this is much easier said than done, walk away, bite your tongue and be the bigger person and not say something you may regret

2.    Do not make it public on social media – it makes things much worse, everybody knows your business and it can be used against you in the future – we have used social media status updates within court proceedings so be careful!

3.    Keep a diary – keep some records of the situation – this can be useful, it is often hard to remember specific dates and times, go in to as much detail as you want or keep it brief.  This will also be really helpful when you come and see us and get some advice

4.    Make sure the children do not know what is going on – children are top priority and should always be, keep your voices down, don’t let them sense the arguments especially at what should be a magical time of year

5.    Book an appointment with a solicitor – call us on 01332 372311 for the Derby office or email lucy.tissington@elliotmather.co.uk or puja.morjaria@elliotmather.co.uk

Our department has now grown with Lucy Tissington returning to the office after her maternity leave to join Puja Morjaria.  Get in touch with us to discuss your options.
